"We engaged Mr. David Connors to do a safety audit of our high school in the fall of 2010 and to assist us with a complete revision of our District Safety Plan.  We are more than pleased with the results of both projects.   Dave provided us with a thorough and comprehensive review of our both the high school main campus building and an off-site location.  We have already taken steps to improve safety and security at both sites based upon Dave’s recommendations.  One of the things that impressed us was how quickly Dave became familiar with the building, staff and surrounding neighborhoods."

"Based upon Dave’s total re-write of our District Safety plan we formed a committee to review the Document.  The plan was recently adopted by our Board of Education and we feel we have a comprehensive plan tailored to meet the needs of our students, staff and community.  Dave also provided 2 excellent training sessions for our administrative staff to familiarize them with the new plan and protocols."

"We have now engaged Dave to continue his review of our district Middle School buildings.  We have developed an excellent working relationship and look forward to working with him in the future."

                                  Superintendent of Schools

Schools have no greater responsibility than to provide a safe and

secure environment for their students

to learn and grow...

How did we get to where we are today?

It was just over a decade ago that two seriously troubled youths in Littleton, Colorado committed a horrific atrocity that changed forever how schools look at security and safety programs and how law enforcement handles an active shooter.

While that one event brought to the forefront the topic of school security it was by no means the first such event nor sadly, was it to be the last. In the immediate aftermath of Columbine, schools across the nation quickly scrambled to address their own security weaknesses striving to improve all aspects of their safety plans and procedures.

Progress was made.

Unfortunately, in the ensuing years it has been difficult for many schools to maintain these efforts and that initial sense of urgency due to the inevitable complacency that comes from periods of relative calm as well as a host of other tasks and mandates that compete for time, effort and funding.

Somewhat understandable, but ultimately unacceptable.

There will be no excuse found to be satisfactory for a school failing to either prevent, mitigate or responsibly respond to any emergency when resources were available and not utilized.

You have no greater responsibility than ensuring the safety of your school community. It's not just about the threat of a school shooter - although that potential is always present. There are a variety of other criminal and man-made events and natural disasters that could impact the safety and security of your schools and communities. An "All-Hazards" approach will assist you in preparing for, preventing, mitigating, responding to, and recovering from, any such event.

How truly confident are you that your overall security and safety program is where it needs to be?

Now what?

School administrators—it’s okay to admit that you can’t do everything. You are experienced, professional educators - NOT security experts. Seeking out experts in the school security field to assist you in reaching your goals just makes good sense and is sound management. A successful administrator knows when to delegate - this would be one of those times.

What we can do for you.

Connors Security Consulting can assist you in assessing and improving all aspects of your overall security and safety program through a combination of the following three categories of service.

  •  Security and Safety Audit
  • Safety Plans - reviewed / written
  • Training / Table-top drills

The most comprehensive approach would be to allow us to provide all three services, however you may choose to avail yourself to any or all of the services described on the following pages.

We will be glad to customize our services to meet your specific needs.
